Examples of Past Microgrant Programs
Jefferson Alliance Tacos Together
The Jefferson Alliance hosts their monthly meeting on the third Wednesday of each month, where community members gather to stay informed about what's happening in the Jefferson neighborhood, while enjoying tacos from Garcia’s, a neighborhood favorite. These events feature presentations from city officials and local leaders, and provide an opportunity to engage with the Jefferson Alliance and 17Strong. These meetings build connections that help foster a safer, cleaner, and more connected community.
Summer Chess Club and Fatherhood Initiative
Throughout the summer, weekly chess clubs are held every Thursday, offering a fun and challenging opportunity for residents to sharpen their skills while connecting with one another. In addition to the chess sessions, the program also features Father Your Hood Saturdays, a special initiative where fathers and their children come together to discuss and develop strategies aimed at strengthening the role and influence of Black men in the community.
